Anyone else feeling overwhelmed by motherhood? Being compassionate with ourselves - with Belinda Haan
Welcome to Episode 223 of Beyond the Bump!
This episode contains honest, personal discussions about difficult emotions such as rage and anger. Motherhood provides plenty of experiences of joy, love and gratitude but it also contains frustration, exhaustion, anger and overwhelm among many other emotional states.
When we know that difficult emotions are an inherent part of motherhood, and being human, it can help us feel less alone or prevent us from experiencing shame. Emotions are an automatic response to internal or external stimuli. We don’t get to choose what arises but we can learn to work with what comes up and how to meet our needs to feel okay.
There were a few ideas shared on how to work with difficult emotions on this episode and there are plenty more in The Emotional Support for Mothers toolkit. However, we all know that the reality is that it can be hard to experience and make sense of these emotions on our own.
If you are experiencing persistent painful feelings you need and deserve love, care and support. Please contact your doctor to discuss how to get the compassionate support you deserve.
